We live and breathe sustainability at cesar (read about our carbon footprint here). It is at the core of all our work but also personally important to all our staff. As commuting is a big contributor of greenhouse gas emissions, this month six cesar staff members took part in #Ride2Work Day, an initiative to encourage people to ditch the car and experience cycling to work.
Some quick calculations revealed that by riding to work, we saved an average of 1.85 kg CO2 per person compared to our normal commute (a mixture of cycling, public transport, and driving). However, if we all drove to work every day like many Melbournians, we would have saved almost 4 kg CO2 per person (and avoided parking frustrations)! Wow!
Even though our commuting footprints are relatively low compared to the average, we have all committed to exploring ways in which we can reduce our footprint further.
