F: Lycosidae
Wolf spiders are found throughout Australia, living in small burrows or under leaves, bark, or other debris. They are robust, agile hunters and are able to dig burrows up to 30 cm deep. There are many species of wolf spider, ranging in size from 10 - 80 mm across the legs. Their body colours are typically drab, with most having variegated patterns in brown and yellow, grey, or black and white. They are most active at night and have very good eyesight. Wolf spiders are useful predators of a range of insects and mites.
