Zygoptera
Adult damselflies have a long thin body which is green, blue, red, yellow, black, or brown and often brightly coloured. They have an oblong head with bulging eyes and very short antennae. When resting, they hold their four large wings vertically rather than horizontally like dragonflies. Damselflies are also usually smaller, weaker fliers than dragonflies, and their eyes are separated. The larvae generally adopt an aquatic lifestyle, with only a few exceptions. They feed on aquatic animals such as other insects and tadpoles. The adults are predators, attacking mosquitoes, leafhoppers, aphids and other pests.
