Grey banded leaf weevil

The grey-banded leaf weevil is a pest of several winter crops, including canola and lupins. Little is known about this weevil. It is thought that they surface feed on weeds and some ornamental plants. They have also been recorded in gardens where both adults and larvae are known to attack several ground vegetables. Adults are approximately 8 mm long, light brown-grey in colour with distinctive raised markings and a white area on the bottom covering approximately 1/4 of the wing covers. Adults are thought to be flightless. Eggs are laid on plant leaves and pupation occurs in the soil. Larvae are often confused with vegetable weevil larvae, which are similar in size and colour.
