Hellula hydralis
Cabbage centre grub larvae are creamish in colour with a dark head and longitudinal red-brown stripes running along their body. The adult moths have light and dark brown markings, and hold their wings horizontally when resting. Both the adults and larvae grow to approximately 12 mm long and are more common in hot, dry conditions. Larvae attack canola and other brassica crops, where they target the basal leaves and young developing floral parts. They sometimes tie the leaves together with webbing or create large blisters inside the leaf. They may also burrow into the growing point or the main vein of a leaf.
