A reminder of earth mites & lucerne flea

More reports have come in from various locations in Victoria, NSW and Tasmania of redlegged earth mite (Halotydeus destructor), blue oat mite (Penthaleus spp.) and lucerne flea (Sminthurus viridis) problems. Although these pests can be most devastating at establishment, it is important to continue monitoring crops and pastures throughout the season.

The recent dry weather conditions experienced across most regions can confound insect and mite attack. For further information on these pests refer to earlier editions of PestFacts.
