Lucerne flea (Sminthurus viridis) and redlegged earth mites (Halotydeus destructor) continue to be major pests across many regions of Victoria and NSW. Researcher, John Roberts (cesar), has observed newly emerged lucerne flea in medic pastures and lucerne at various sites in the Western district of Victoria. Agronomist, Mick Duncan (Northern Agriculture), has reported lucerne flea attacking lucerne stands around Tamworth, in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. Matt Hincks (NuFarm) says lucerne flea and redlegged earth mites have been observed around Shepparton, Victoria. Consultant, Ian Cocking (AGRIvision Consultants), also reports earth mites and lucerne flea present in high numbers within pasture paddocks around Boort, in the Northern Country of Victoria.
